At work
Edward began his career in financial services as an apprentice at a firm of Chartered accountants. He worked as a tax adviser there for three years, completing the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification.
Financial planning appealed to him, as he wanted to expand on his areas of advice and make a bigger impact on clients’ lives.
Coupled with his desire to live abroad, Edward joined an expat financial planning company based in the South of France. He worked there as an administrator and trainee paraplanner while completing his level 4 diploma.
On his return home, he worked as a paraplanner for both a regional independent financial advisory practice and one of the largest wealth managers in the country.
After exploring various approaches to financial advice, Edward chose to join Depledge for our independence and our ethos of delivering genuine, long-term financial planning.
Edward’s expertise lies in helping clients near or at retirement build a financial plan to help them achieve their objectives. Given his background, he’s got a good understanding of the tax system, which lends itself well to tax planning.
At home
Edward spends time with his girlfriend, friends, and family.
He enjoys training and, after knee surgery and recovery, is planning on running a marathon.
Edward is passionate about Rugby League and enjoys watching the NRL. Fun fact: Edward lived in Nice, France, for six months.
In the spotlight
The proudest moment of my career was:
Achieving my Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
The three things I love most about my job are:
Getting to know and understand clients and their goals, helping create a plan that moves them towards this, and building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.
The types of people I most enjoy working with are:
Those who want to delegate to a trusted adviser, clients who are engaged in the financial planning process, and people with a focus on retirement.
