Mike started work in the pensions profession in 1993. During this time, he has gained a wide knowledge of pensions and investments while working with the Benefit Agency and private clients.
Mike has worked on pensions, private investments, life assurance, sickness, and disability cases.
At home
Away from work, Mike likes to catch up with friends and family. He also enjoys exploring new places on holidays and enjoys most sports.
A fun fact about Mike is that he once had a footballer’s perm – now he self-admittedly doesn’t have enough hair for such luxuries.
In the spotlight
The proudest moment of my career was:
While working on a group scheme, a deferred member contacted the office, as he hadn’t heard anything from his employer about his pending pension. It became clear that the member’s records had been lost. Working closely with the employer, member, pension provider and an actuary, we calculated a pension due to the member.
The three things I love most about my job are:
Building relationships with clients; flexible working which allows me to work from anywhere making my work-life balance a lot better; and changing legislation which means that the work is continually changing, bringing a freshness to the work environment.
