In our final “meet the team” instalment, meet three more of the Depledge troop: Adrian Mahon, Paul Watson, and Mark Allen.
Adrian Mahon
What’s your role here at Depledge?
I’m a senior financial planner. I specialise in working with individuals who are either approaching retirement or have already finished their career.
How did you first get into financial services?
I’ve been in financial services for more than 30 years, but I wasn’t always a financial planner! Before Depledge, I worked for Royal & Sun Alliance, Aviva, and Friends Provident in sales and management.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I think my favourite thing about my role is being able to deliver on a client’s goals. I love forming long-term relationships with the people I meet in this job, and seeing them achieve what they set out to do is extremely satisfying.
What are your interests outside of work?
I’m a huge sports fan – the former chairman of my local cricket club, and an avid watcher of football and rugby too.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and adult children.
Paul Watson
What’s your role here at Depledge?
I’m a member of the investment committee. I bring an external perspective to the firm’s investment strategies and help with key decision-making across the board.
How did you first get into financial services?
I’ve been in financial services for 30 years, working as a professional trustee and adviser on workplace savings and investment governance within a number of firms.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy helping Depledge make decisions about its wider investment proposition, responding to world events and market movements. No two days are the same, which keeps the role fresh.
What are your interests outside of work?
I love playing golf at the weekends and enjoy travelling too.
Mark Allen
What’s your role here at Depledge?
I’ve worked with Depledge since its inception, providing tech and IT support.
How did you first get into financial services?
I began my career in financial services many years ago, and although my area of expertise centres around IT, I also hold a number of financial services qualifications.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy being a part of the close-knit team we have at Depledge – having been here since the beginning, it’s been lovely to witness the business grow.
What are your interests outside of work?
I’m a lifelong Blackburn Rovers fan (for my sins) and enjoy playing golf, as well as spending time with my wonderful family.
